DIY Mermaid Eyeshadow the Palette šŸ§œšŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Updated: Oct 28, 2019

Especially if you read my last blog you will know that I have always LOVED eyeshadow! So to say the least I have been loving coming up with my own color combos. I noticed Stardust Micas has a pigment set called ā€œMermaidā€ and it inspired me to design this fun palette. I am so glad I did because I am having so much fun wearing these colors (and I keep getting compliments! šŸ˜‰)

That being said you can create any colors you want so feel free to play around and get creative. I would love to see any color combos you create!

I also mixed a few colors together and used a few not in the mermaid set. I will break that all down below so you can recreate these colors if you want šŸ’–

Shadow Base:

1 Tbs Bentonite Clay

1 Tbs Arrowroot Powder

3-5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil (Optional)

Eyeshadow Ingredients:

1/4th Tsp Cosmetic Grade Mica

1/8th Tsp Shadow Base (Approximately)

5 Drops Argan Oil

Pea sized amount of fresh Aloe Vera (Less is more. It doesnā€™t take much!)

Notes šŸ“

I recommend letting the shadows sit for 12+ hours before using them. Gives the aloe time to dry down.

Some colors will need more shadow base to be smooth and silky. For example I found when I made gold it needed the regular amount but when I was working with purples and orange in needed a little more base to be smooth and silky on the skin so I recommend testing it on your skin before adding the Argan and Aloe. That way if you need to add more base itā€™s easy to blend. The color will also intensify when you add the Argan and Aloe. Just some things to keep in mind.

Color Combos šŸ‘‡šŸ» For the mixes I used equal parts of each color.

Iā€™ve been using Stardust Micas pigments to make my shadows. I LOVE them! They are cosmetic grade and they have lots of gorgeous colors to choose from! šŸ˜

Just a reminder. Because itā€™s cosmetic grade does not always mean eye safe šŸ‘ most of the Stardust micas are eye safe but just double check before ordering if your picking a color not listed here šŸ‘šŸ»

Where to get the ingredients šŸ‘‡šŸ»

You can get these beautiful Mica powders on amazon from Stardust Micas. For a full list of colors and link to purchase check here šŸ‘‡šŸ»

They also have some beautiful color sets which will save you some $$$

I mostly used their ā€œMermaidā€ set which as you can probably guess is what inspired the theme of this palette šŸ’– It is currently out of stock but I reached out to them and they said it should be back in stock either 11-2 or 11-3. I may have to try this for Abbie. She is begging for her own makeup!
